Privacy Policy — LinkedIn AI Detector
Last updated: 2026
LinkedIn AI Detector is designed to be completely private. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your information.
What the extension accesses
- LinkedIn post text. On
https://www.linkedin.com/*, the extension reads the text of posts in your feed to score how likely each is AI-generated. This analysis runs entirely on your device using pattern heuristics and Chrome's built-in on-device AI (Gemini Nano). Post text is never sent off your device.
What the extension stores (locally only)
Using Chrome's storage API, on your device:
- Settings — your thresholds, toggles, and author allowlist (synced by Chrome across your own signed-in profiles if you use Chrome Sync; that is handled by Google Chrome, not by us).
- Cached scores — a per-post score cache so revisiting the feed doesn't re-analyse posts you've already seen. Stored locally and expires automatically.
- Session stats — counts of posts scanned/flagged/hidden for the current session.
You can clear the cached scores at any time in the extension's Settings, and Chrome removes all of this data automatically when you uninstall the extension.
What we do NOT do
- We do not operate any server or backend.
- We do not make network requests. The only download involved is Chrome's own Gemini Nano model, which is downloaded and managed by Google Chrome itself, not by this extension.
- We do not use analytics, tracking, cookies, or advertising.
- We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal information.
Permissions
storage— to save your settings and cache scores locally (described above).- Access to
https://www.linkedin.com/*— to read post text and show score badges in your feed. Used only for on-device analysis.
The on-device AI model
The extension uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model via the browser's Prompt API. The model runs locally; prompts (post text) are processed on your device and are not sent to Google or anyone else by this extension. The model is a shared, Chrome-managed resource; its lifecycle is controlled by Google Chrome.
Children
This extension is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
